Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett

In the Brömserhof, a knight’s residence from the 15th century directly above the Drosselgasse, there are more than 400 self-playing musical instruments.7,8 You can only see and hear them on a guided tour of about 45 minutes, which is offered in nine languages.7

On the half hour, chimes with bells made of Meissen porcelain play in the window of the Musikkabinett.9 Children, pupils, students and people with disabilities pay reduced admission.7 Opening times: smmk.de.

Mechanicum in the Asbachgasse

The Mechanicum shows more than 100 automata and kinetic objects from several centuries – in the former executive salons of the Asbach Uralt distillery.2,10 Every piece wants to be set in motion: by pedal, button or motion sensor.10

There is a family ticket for up to two adults and four children. Because of two flights of stairs, the museum is not equipped for disabled visitors.2 The museum expressly addresses “young and old”.10 More ideas for families on the page Rüdesheim with children.
